HOOSICK – Route 7 is now reopened after a tanker truck accident and subsequent fuel spill.

According to police, the driver of the truck failed to properly negotiate a turn and struck a guardrail and telephone pole before overturning down an embankment.

The 34-year-old driver from Western Massachusetts was transported to Albany Medical Center for the treatment of burns. He was later airlifted to Westchester County Medical Center Burn Unit.

Officials from Environmental Conservation are on hand to remove more than 9,500 gallons of fuel that spilled into the Shingle Hollow, a tributary of the Hoosick River.
