Town and Village of Middleburgh will not merge

The Village of Middleburgh will not be dissolving into the Town of Middleburgh.
344 people voted "no" to the proposal.
Only 71 were in favor of it.
That's 83% to 17%.
Village residents were promised a tax decrease that would come with eliminating duplicate services.
But almost everyone we spoke with said they wanted their village to stay independent.
