SCHENECTADY – Police are looking for a man they say impersonated a member of the Water Department in order to gain access to someone's home.
According to police a man wearing a dark jacket marked "Water Department" was able to enter a residence on California Avenue.
The man fled the scene after the resident became suspicious and confronted the man. No one was injured and no property was reported missing.
The Water Department did not have anyone working in the area during that time.
Schenectady police are encouraging everyone to use caution when allowing unknown persons access to their home.
