ALBANY - Governor Cuomo is reportedly attempting to oust Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, using last week's state government scandal as an excuse.
The New York Post is reporting the governor and his top aides met over the weekend to create a sweeping ethics agenda, some apparently urged the governor to get rid of Silver.
The meeting comes after the arrest of Assemblyman Eric Stevenson. He is accused of taking bribes in exchange for help he gave to several businessman who wanted to open an adult day care center.
According to the paper, the governor's choice would be to demand Silver step down as speaker or resign.
Governor denies the report, saying he will leave the elections up to the people.
