WATERVLIET – The final piece of St. Patrick’s Church is set to come down on Thursday.

Crews have been preparing to remove the bell tower of the church which many area residents fought to save for more than a year.

Many spectators came out to watch the demolition, during which a cable broke, some calling it divine intervention.

Developer NIGRO Companies plans to build a shopping center on that space.
