The FCC on Wednesday approved WNYT-TV’s purchase of WNYA-TV.

In granting the approval, the FCC said that WNYT taking over WNYA “would serve the public interest.”

WNYA, also known as My 4 Albany, is a MyNetworkTV affiliate currently owned by Venture Technologies Group.

WNYT NewsChannel 13 is owned by Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc. of St. Paul, MN. The station entered into a joint sales agreement with WNYA in February.

WNYT is expected to take full ownership of WNYA within the next 30 to 40 days.
