Greene County fire crews responded to a large fire in Greenville around 9:00 Saturday night.

Several different fire agencies responded.

The Greenville Fire Chief says it was an old abandoned sawmill on Old Plank Road, that has been vacant for at least five years.

“The building has been abandoned. No one was here to report the fire when it first started. It was actually a neighbor on Route 81 that saw the flames from their house that called,” said Cliff Powell, the Greenville Fire Chief.

One firefighter was taken to Albany Medical Center with minor injuries.

No word on a cause.
