LEE, Mass. - Tuesday night's hearing at Memorial Town Hall resulted in the termination of Lee Police Chief Joe Buffis.

Buffis is facing federal extortion and money laundering charges. He faces up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted.

He was not fired because of criminal indictment but for allegedly misappropriating public funds.

An administrator says the town was paying for cell phones for Buffis, his wife, and kids without authorization.
