BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) - Supporters and opponents of fracking for natural gas are gathering in Binghamton to put on a show for President Obama when his tour bus rolls in.

The city is in a likely area for drilling to begin if Gov. Andrew Cuomo lifts a 5-year-old moratorium and allows fracking in New York's part of the Marcellus Shale.

Obama has spoken in favor of shale gas development. Cuomo acknowledges the economic advantages but says he's still looking at environmental and health implications.

Dan Fitzsimmons, head of the pro-gas Joint Landowners Coalition of New York, says Friday that drilling supporters are having a rally and picnic in a park near Binghamton University, where Obama will speak.

Opponents are waving "Don't frack upstate New York" signs on campus.
