HUDSON - The now defunct Local Ocean Company in Columbia County will be liquidated along with 500-thousand fish.

The hatchery that sold high-end fish to restaurants and markets abruptly closed its doors and laid off most of its employees earlier this month.

Since then, the fish were being kept afloat, literally, by a few remaining employees who are now being paid by a new owner.

Michael Spielman bought the 30-acre property at auction on Tuesday.

The town supervisor adds that Spielman has two potential renters, both aquaculture companies, for the space.
