EAST GREENBUSH – Police now say bones found in a crawl space at a home on Michael Road belonged to an animal, and not a human.

The bones were discovered on Wednesday, by a crew doing renovations.

They led to the reopening of a missing person’s investigation, dating back to 1938.

At one point Wednesday, investigators were searching for clues in an old book report done by a ninth grader.

Over the years, the building has been a monastery, an orphanage and a private residence that's changed ownership many times.
