ALTAMONT - Fire destroyed an old garage or barn building Monday morning in Altamont. The fire happened on Ostrander Road, near the intersection of Wormer Road.

No one was hurt in the fire, but vehicles inside the garage were destroyed.

Firefighters were able to put the fire out before the flames spread to the woods or a home nearby.

Firefighters arriving at the scene, say the flames were intense.

“When I came around the bend the garage, or the barn, was fully involved it was already collapsed. The power line above us were were melted. Other than that just the vehicles that were in the barn itself and the barn,” said Paul Miller of Guilderland Fire Operations.

The cause of the fire is not known.  The chief says state fire investigators will be coming to the scene.
