For the first time in 17 years, drivers will once again pay tolls on a stretch of the Massachusetts Turnpike near the New York State line. Starting Tuesday, tolls will be collected at six interchanges, from exit 1 in West Stockbridge through exit 6.
The tolls will be the same price as they were back in 1996, when they were eliminated by then Gov. William Weld. The price is $1.75 if you drive the entire span.
The re-instatement of the tolls was approved earlier this year and is expected to bring in about $12 million annually.
