Administrators will meet on Tuesday to decide what punishment students will face, after shouting a racial slur during a homecoming game.

During that game, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake students started chanting “Amsterico”, a derogatory term aimed at the city's large Hispanic population.

Shortly after the game, the district posted a statement on its website, saying:

"Some of our student fans betrayed the code of sportsmanship and Spartan Pride...Disciplinary consequences will be applied."

The district is apologizing to staff and students at Amsterdam High School.
