New blood pressure guidelines set the threshold a little higher for older adults.

The guidelines were released on Wednesday, in the journal of the American Medical Association.

The recommendations come from a government appointed panel.

Members stress they are not changing the definition of high blood pressure. That's still 140 over 90.

However, they say adults age 60 and over don't need to take blood pressure drugs unless their levels reach 150 over 90 or higher.

The panel says treating older adults too aggressively can lead to fainting and falls.
