A new study suggests carrying too much weight is linked to hearing loss.

Researchers in Boston followed nearly 70,000 women over a 10-year period and found those with a higher body mass index had an increased risk of hearing problems.

In fact, "extremely obese" women had 25-percent more than normal-weight women.

Experts aren't sure why the two conditions are related, but suggest obesity may narrow blood flow to the cochlea and restrict its function.
