Spending more time at home during the winter months is hard on people who suffer from mold, dust or pet allergies.

However, allergists have some tips to limit your exposure to these indoor triggers.

First, use exhaust fans and dehumidifiers to keep your indoor humidity level between 30 and 40-percent. That will prevent mold from growing, which can cause asthma attacks and other breathing problems.

To ward off dust mites, keep carpets clean, floors mopped and regularly wash bed linens and pajamas in hot water.

Experts also recommend high efficiency furnace filters. They capture about 30-times more allergens.
