Proctors is donating more than $8,000 to Saratoga Warhorse.

Cast members of the Tony-award winning play "War Horse" were there as the check was presented Friday and so was NewsChannel 13.

The nonprofit organization uses horses to help veterans suffering from emotional and psychological problems.

The play is a story about the powerful connection between a man and his horse and shows the loyalty and friendship that can exist between the two.

“When you send a kid to war you need to be prepared for the fall out, the emotional damage that's done and the public has not been able to reach out to the veteran directly. A parade is not reaching out to the veteran directly. A parade is not reaching out to a veteran emotionally. So we're giving them this opportunity to get involved with us and support what we do in a direct way that has an immediate impact on those veterans,” says Bob Nevins, Executive Director of Saratoga Warhorse.

War Horse is being performed at Proctors through the weekend.
