A friend of mine recently left a high profile job for a new career. It's a great job, one that provides greater stability, more money and better benefits. In short, it was a great move.
But when folks see him the first thing they ask is - does he miss his old job.
I suspect it's born out of our discomfort with change. Humans, in general, don't like it when the boat gets rocked.
But if we don't shake things up from time to time we become stagnant and that means we don't grow.
I realize the grass isn't always greener across the street but it's healthy to, at the very least, check it out - make the walk. Even if you don't make a change, just seeing the world from a different perspective can help you grow and embrace new challenges.
So the next time you meet someone who's made a change, stop yourself if your first inclination is to ask about BEFORE . .and concentrate on NOW.
