Specialty Drinks

Blue Screwdriver

Blueberry-Infused Vodka:

§  1 Pint of Blueberries

§  1 Liter of plain Vodka (this does not have to be high-end expensive vodka)

1.     Wash 1 pint of blueberries and put them in a clear pitcher or container that you can serve out of

2.     Take 1 liter of plain vodka and pour it into the container over the blueberries.

3.     If you have time, let the berries set in the container without smashing them so that the color and flavor steep in the vodka for a day or two.  The color of the vodka with the blueberries will be reddish (not blue).  If you don’t have a lot of time to let the berries steep, smash the blueberries a little to get the flavor and color out of them (but they look better if you can work ahead of time and keep them whole, but either way it tastes great).

For the Blue Screwdriver Cocktail:

§  Ice (about 1 cup of cubes)

§  ¼ cup (2 fluid ounces) of your Blueberry-Infused Vodka

§  ½ Cup of Orange Juice (about 4-fluid ounces)

§  Blueberry Garnish – about 3 Blueberries per Martini Glass (get another pint of fresh blueberries to garnish the drinks in the glass)

1.     Put 1 cup of ice cubes into a cocktail shaker (if you don’t have a shaker, you can stir them up in a pitcher).

2.     Pour ¼ cup (2-fluid ounces) of your blueberry-infused vodka into the cocktail shaker over the ice.

3.     Add ½ cup of orange juice to the shaker with the blueberry vodka and ice (add a little more orange juice if you want it sweeter).

4.     Put the lid on the shaker and shake your groove thang!  (Or stir it up in the pitcher.

5.     Strain the ice out and pour the cold mixture into a martini glass.

6.     Add 3 blueberries to the filled martini glass as a garnish.

Tools:

Berry Ginger Martini

Raspberry Vodka:

§  1 Pint of Raspberries

§  1 Liter of plain Vodka (this does not have to be high-end expensive vodka)

1.     Wash 1 pint of raspberries and put them into a clear pitcher or container that you can serve out of.

2.     Take 1 liter of plain vodka and pour it into the container over the raspberries.

3.     If you have time, let the raspberries set in the container without smashing them so that the color and flavor steep in the vodka.  The color of the vodka with the raspberries will be pinkish.

4.     If you don’t have a lot of time, smash the raspberries a little to get the flavor and color out of them (but they look better if you can work ahead of time and keep them whole).

To Make the Berry Ginger Martini Cocktail:

§  Ice (about 1 cup of cubes)

§  ½ Cup of Ginger-Ale (about 4-fluid ounces)

§  ¼ cup of your Raspberry-Infused Vodka (about 2-fluid ounces)

§  Raspberry Garnish – about 2 to 3 Raspberries per Martini Glass (get another pint of fresh raspberries to garnish the drinks in the glass)

1.     Put ½ cup (4-fluid ounces) of ginger-ale into your cocktail shaker (or you can use a pitcher).  Be aware that the bubbles in the ginger-ale will build up pressure when shaken.

2.     Add ¼ cup (2-fluid ounces) of your raspberry vodka.

3.     Shake it, shake it baby!  Remembering that the pressure will build up because of the carbonation/bubbles in the ginger-ale (or stir it all up in a pitcher).

4.     Pour into a martini glass and garnish the filled glass with a couple of raspberries.

Tools:

§  Clear Pitcher or Container

§  Cocktail Shaker or Pitcher and Stirring Spoon

§  Ice/Ice Scoop or Tongs

§  Martini Glasses

Apple Pie Martini

§  4 Cinnamon Sticks

§  1 Liter of plain Vodka (this does not have to be high-end expensive vodka – we use “Svedka”)

§  2 Liters of Ginger-Ale

§  1 Gallon of Apple Cider

§  4 Lemons, cut into small wedges

§  Raisins and Cinnamon Sticks for Garnish

To Make the Cinnamon Vodka:

1.     Take 1 liter of plain vodka and put 4 cinnamon sticks in the bottle.

2.     Let the bottle sit for 2 days.  The color of the vodka with the cinnamon will be tan to light brown.

3.     After 2 days, taste the vodka – if you have a nice cinnamon flavor, remove the cinnamon sticks.  It should have the flavor of cinnamon, but not be like a Red Hot candy with a burning flavor.

To Make an Individual Apple Pie  Martini Cocktail:

§  Ice (about 1 cup of cubes)

§  1/8 Cup of Ginger-Ale (about 1-fluid ounce; a “splash”)

§  ¼  Cup of your Cinnamon-Infused Vodka (about 2-fluid ounces – see recipe above)

§  ¼ Cup of Apple Cider

1.     Put about 1 cup of ice cubes in a cocktail shaker.

2.     Put 1/8 cup (1-fluid ounce) of ginger-ale into your cocktail shaker (or you can use a pitcher).  Be aware that the bubbles in the ginger-ale will build up pressure when shaken.

3.     Add ¼ cup (2-fluid ounces) of your cinnamon vodka.

4.     Now add ¼ cup of apple cider.

5.     Top it off with a squeeze of lemon.

6.     Shake it, shake it baby!  Remembering that the pressure will build up in the shaker because of the carbonation/bubbles in the ginger-ale (or stir it all up in a pitcher).

7.     Pour into a martini glass, straining out the ice, and garnish the filled glass with a couple of raisins and a stick of cinnamon.

Tools:

§  Clear Pitcher or Container

§  Cocktail Shaker or Pitcher and Stirring Spoon

§  Ice/Ice Scoop or Tongs

§  Martini Glasses
