Former Rensselaer City Police Officer Mark Fusco pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter on Friday.

Fusco, the son of Rensselaer Police Chief Rick Fusco, is accused of driving drunk and killing his friend in a car crash last year.

The ex-cop and son of the police chief in the city of Rensselaer is now on the other side of the law.

According to the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s office, he's looking at prison time.

Mark Fusco was facing a slew of charges including aggravated vehicular homicide and vehicular manslaughter, for his alleged involvement in the deadly car crash a little over a year ago.

Investigators say Fusco's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when he got behind the wheel.

They say he was traveling on Route 151 in East Greenbush when he went off the road and slammed into a tree.

His passenger, 22-year-old Sean Murphy of Slingerlands, died in the crash.
