SCHENECTADY - Schenectady hosted a parade to honor the national champion Union men's hockey team.

It started at 4 p.m. on the school's campus.

The players say they never expected this type of reception in Schenectady.

"It's just a once in a life time feeling, opportunity, and you know that cliche 'seize the moment'? I think I'm going to seize it here and just enjoy whatever is around and just really have fun with it," junior forward Daniel Ciampini said before the parade.

The parade passed by Messa Arena before down Nott Street, Seward Place, Union Street, Jay and then the parade finished at city hall.

That’s where the team was presented with a key to the city from Mayor Gary McCarthy. They also heard from other dignitaries who were on hand to pay tribute to the team.
