Hockey is returning to Glens Falls.

The Calgary Flames announced Monday that the American Hockey League’s Board of Governors has approved the relocation of their AHL British Columbia affiliate to the Glens Falls Civic Center, starting with the 2014-2015 season.

NewsChannel 13 was the first to report last week that final details were being worked out to bring them here.

In a statement on their website, Flames General Manager Brad Treliving said “Glens Falls has had a terrific history with the American Hockey League and will be an ideal location and environment for the development of our prospects.”

The previous team, the Adirondack Phantoms left the Glens Falls Civic Center for Philadelphia last month after five years.

Before that, the Adirondack Red Wings called the Civic Center home.
