GLOVERSVILLE – A Gloversville man and teenage boy are in trouble with the law after police say they ransacked an apartment building in the city.
Police say they responded to 79 Division Street for reports of shots fired on Monday evening just before 5 p.m.
That’s when they discovered 32-year-old Cecilio Persen and a 14-year-old boy entered the apartment trying to locate Persen’s 15-year-old daughter.
Police say the two broke down doors, overturned a refrigerator and table and further vandalized the apartment causing several thousand dollars worth of damage.
They say the two were armed with a pellet pistol and hammer.
They then fled the season and a state wide search for the suspects began.
Police say Person turned himself into police around 9 p.m. that evening.
He faces burglary and criminal mischief charges. Charges against the teen are still pending.
Detectives found Persen’s daughter hiding in the attic. The investigation is ongoing.
