SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's lacrosse team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 24-4 win over New England College on Wednesday at Frank Bailey Field. With the win, Union set a new school record for victories in a season, improving to 14-3 overall. New England finished their season at 14-4.
The ninth-ranked Dutchmen recorded a season-high 24 goals and remained perfect at home (8-0) on the year.
A total of 16 different Dutchmen recorded at least one goal, including Nolan Stauffer, who led the way with a hat trick.
Starting goalkeeper Stefan Basile was credit with the win, and was relieved in the second quarter by Devyn Jefferies, who played 40:55 minutes of action and made eight saves.
Union will face Amherst -- a 13-10 victor over Colorado College -- on Saturday (May 10) at a site to be determined.
