With pools set to open across the country, there’s a new report about the chemicals used to keep those pools clean.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, 5,000 people visited the emergency room in 2012 thanks to pool chemicals.
Nearly half of the patients were children and teens.
Most often, they were overcome by strong chemical vapors or fumes.
Experts remind folks to use goggles and masks when handling pool chemicals.
Never mix chlorine products with acids.
