A South Colonie Elementary student took it upon himself to organize fundraisers to help raise money for repairs to the Duanesburg Rescue Squad facility that was badly damaged in last month's tornado.

Logan Trembley hosted a bake sale and a "hats on" day.

Students and staff wore hats of all shapes, colors and sizes to school on Monday and made donations towards the effort.

Logan presented the funds at the squad's weekly meeting on Wednesday evening.

“Well, I had been watching the news and I just saw it come up and I felt real bad so I donated,” he explained.

Logan raised several hundred dollars. His mother says she couldn’t be prouder.
