Police from several departments spent the night searching for a man in the Hudson River.

Around 1:20 Thursday morning, Troy Police say an officer approached the man standing on the other side of the railing of the Green Island Bridge.

Police had been searching the river and the shore. As of late Thursday afternoon, he still had not been found.

Police say as the officer approached the man, he jumped into the river below.

The officer says the man swam a few strokes and that is the last to be seen of him in the cold water and fast current.
