FORT EDWARD – A Washington County teen is facing charges after police say she made a threat on Facebook toward a Fort Edward school.

Tamara Hyatt is charged with making a terroristic threat.

Police don’t believe the 18-year-old had any intention of carrying out the social media threat to “kill the kids” at Fort Edward Union Free School.

But they say simply making the comment is a felony.

Hyatt is not a student at the school and police say she made the comment as part of a joke with a Facebook friend about getting drunk and passing out on the steps of the school.

They say Hyatt responded with a comment that included “or we could kill the kids.”

Hyatt had also been the subject of a police investigation several years ago for making a similar threat when she lived in Granville.

She was arraigned and sent to Washington County Jail for lack of bail.
