I know I haven't written in a while. I've been busy - graduation, a show, my day job, another show, family .. you know . .life.

But some family stuff  stopped me for a moment. A cousin recently married. Lovely couple. I don't know very well because of distance, but lovely whenever we are together. One of the relatives shared pictures and said something about the event .. 'everyone brought their best' ..

How many times do we gather with friends, family .. and the best is not brought. Instead we bring old hurts, jealousies, anger .. In fact, I was at another gathering not long ago where those emotions were on view.

And then a friend posted about the anger she hears from others, the lack of civility. Why can't we all be friends, as the song goes? But moreover, why can't we put aside our stuff and bring our best when an a gathering is called. Isn't that really what we should be doing? After all, the gathering isn't about us - it's about the group, the event, the potential to create new connections and memories.

So yeah, even though I wasn't at the recent wedding I am delighting in everyone's joy and better yet, knowing they all brought their best.
