Severe weather has been hitting parts of the Capital Region today.

Rotterdam Town Supervisor Harry Bufardi tells NewsChannel 13 that three town employees were injured by lighting. The lightning strike happened outside the old Curry Plaza shopping center, where town residents have been going for clean drinking water since a series of water main breaks earlier this week.

According to police, the three employees were knocked off their feet. They were all taken to Ellis Hospital for evaluation, but appear to be okay.

Water distribution has been suspended there until 9 a.m. on Thursday.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there were reports of downed trees and flooded roads in the Capital Region. That includes Western Avenue in Guilderland, which was closed in the area of Route 158.

Interstate 890 east and west in Schenectady had two right lanes closed between exits 6 and 5 near the Thruway.

In East Greenbush, a tree tangled in wires had Brookview Road shut down near the East Greenbush/Schodack town line.

There were also reports that the Lisha Kill Creek is running over Consaul Road in Colonie.

In Coeymans, firefighters responded to a burned out barn on Alcove Road.

There was also street level flooding on Merlin Drive in Niskayuna.

A portion of Western Avenue in Guilderland was closed near Carman Road and Willow Street due to flooding.

In Ravena, streets were blocked off near Mountain Road and Western Avenue, as well as Spor Development Road off Route 143.

The storm also caused a few thousand customers to lose power.
