A drowning in Saratoga County is under investigation.
A man was discovered around 1 p.m. face down in the water, about 100 feet from shore. Saratoga County Sheriff Mike Zurlo says an employee of Lee's Park Campgrounds found the body floating near a pontoon boat docked about 100 feet from shore.
The campground is on the northeast side of Saratoga Lake, at the mouth of Fish Creek. The campground employee saw something floating and it didn't take him long to figure out what it was. Police and firefighters arrived to pull the man from the water.
“We don't know the circumstances here. We're trying to piece everything together whether he was out swimming on his own and once we can interview other people he was with, we'll go further with it. Safety's the concern on a hot day like this when you're in the water,” Zurlo said.
The sheriff says there's no reason to believe the drowning was anything but accidental. He points out that it's always a good idea to swim with a friend.
