Zephyr Teachout wants to challenge Andrew Cuomo in next month's Democratic primary for governor.

First she must convince a judge she has been a resident of New York State for at least five years, which is a requirement if you run for state office.

Teachout is a law professor at Fordham University and says she moved to New York City in 2009.

However, two people filed court papers in Brooklyn, claiming that Teachout spent long portions of the past five years in Vermont.

Teachout says she has spent summers in Vermont because her family lives there.
