An upside of the merger between Ellis/ St. Claire's and Bellevue Hospitals

As the merger between those three hospitals is complete I was wondering about access to Bellevue for pregnant women living in Schenectady. I was curious to see if the trip to Bellevue would prove onerous for women who might have had a short bus or car ride in the past, or those who were able to walk to St. Claire's for pre-natal care. Bellevue is the designated maternal service provider in this new configuration of providing health care.

So I called the folks at CDTA. At first blush it appeared the trip would be long. But then I learned how to use the trip planner. Yes, CDTA offers that service on its website. Lo and behold, the trip to Bellevue from Ellis is shorter, by half, when compared to the trip from Ellis to St. Claire's. It's just he way the bus routes are laid out.

And the trip from St. Claire's to Bellevue is also pretty easy ..

Look, I realize just getting on a bus can be a pain for those who were able to walk to St. Claire's before all this .. but at least there is an easy and affordable mode of transportation to this important service.
