I had the pleasure of meeting a brother and sister today from Framingham, MA who came up with a unique idea of how we can keep U.S. soldiers connected with their families, without them having to spend tons of money on phone bills. The pair decided to collect old cell phones that are no longer being used. With the help of a phone carrier those phones would be shipped to soldiers.
I interviewed the pair who were pretty young when they came up with the idea, but have now been doing this for a couple of years (click on the link to watch the interview). I was so impressed with them and how their idea has blossomed and really turned into a worthwhile project that I included the interview below- just in case you did not get a chance to see today's Midday show. I hope you too are impressed.
I interview young people often and I am very hopeful about the future because they (young people) are doing so many wonderful things and taking on so many great causes. So, the next time someone tells you something negative about young people-remind them that not all young people are in trouble, they are indeed our future. And, the future looks pretty bright. Just something to think about. Elaine
