Benita Zahn

Benita Zahn co-anchor s NewsChannel 13 Live at 5 and 6 with Jim Kambrich. She is also the health reporter, covering issues including wellness, treatment breakthroughs, aging, nutrition and the latest health care trends. She also co-produces and hosts "Health LINK" Tuesday nights on WMHT.

Benita's work has garnered her numerous awards, including being named one of the 100 Women of the Century by the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce, a three-time Emmy nominee, a Gold Medal in the 1995 New York Festival's International Television competition for "Baby Your Baby," the Distinguished Communicator Award from American Women in Radio and Television, 1997 YMCA Citizen of the Year, the NYS Health Education Week Award, media awards from the American Cancer Society, the American Lung Association and the American Heart Association.

Benita has also covered numerous national political conventions, the inauguration of President Barack Obama, the aftermath of 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and the Unabomber trial.

Benita is the community liason to the St. Peter's Hospital Ethics Board and Honorary Chair for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Run.  She is also an advisory board for Ronald McDonald House. Her theater credits are numerous, including performances at the Albany Civic Theater, Schenectady Civic Theater, Schenectady Light Opera and Park Playhouse.

In 2009 Benita was awarded a masters of science degree in bioethics at Albany Medical College.
