Jessica Layton
Jessica co-anchors NewsChannel 13 Live at 11 with Jim Kambrich. In the past, Jessica had served as our Berkshire News Chief and anchor of NewsChannel 13 Weekend Today. She came to WNYT in 2006 after speding three years at the CBS affiliate in Watertown, N.Y., where she did everything from one-man-band reporting to producing and anchoring the weekend 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts. While in Watertown, Jessica extensively covered the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum and its role in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. She's a proud 2003 cum laude graduate of Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, where she majored in broadcast journalism and political science. A sports lover, she was a member of the women's varsity soccer team. She's pretty sure her competitive edge on the soccer field is what makes her so competitive when she's in the field reporting. Along with television journalism, Jessica has a passion for singing. If you're an Orange fan, you may have heard her sing the national anthem at some of the SU men's basketball games. Jessica is no stranger to the area. She's originally from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake and is thrilled to be near home again, reporting for the station she grew up watching. Jessica lives in East Greenbush and looks forward to your story ideas and feedback. Contact Jessica at jlayton@wnyt.com. |
