Potty training in 2009

A couple of years ago when my brother and sister in law were trying to potty train my niece and hitting roadblocks I remember a scene - my brother dutifully placed his precious daughter on the potty and began reading to her. Every few minutes she'd get up an check the pot to see if 'things worked' . It was very funny for me - clearly she wasn't body aware enough at the time or just not that interested .. my brother, however, was somewhat frustrated. Now she's almost 8 and frustrating him in other ways - just wait - lol .. but when I saw a story today about potty training and using electronic gadgetry it reminded me of that potty session and I figured I had to share this story.http://www.healthday.com/Article.asp?AID=628100

Bottom line - ahem- there's a diaper alarm alerting kids to when the diaper is wet getting them ---

"The theory behind the study comes straight out of the annals of behavioral and biofeedback psychology. By responding faster to dirty diapers, attendants can give appropriate encouragement and help children focus on bladder control more efficiently, said Jean-Jacques Wyndaele, study co-author and professor of urology at the University of Antwerp."
