Rose-Marie Mancino, Lombardo's

As President and co-owner of Lombardo's Restaurant since 1992 with partner Paul Mancino, Rose-Marie Mancino found herself in an honored position of continuing a 73 year family legacy, re-opening the family restaurant with its old iconic charm intact; yet engage people to "once again, make memories with us."  Coming from a nursing background, she incorporated basic skill sets into her new venture: to give attentive, genuine, quality service to her customers, often personally asking customers of their dining experience, a hands on approach.  She hoped by setting the type of business environment she desired, she would create a nurturing atmosphere, encouraging her staff to use their own attributes to solve any conflicts that arise and make the customer leave happy.

"A large portion of my success is the hard work and longevity of my staff,"  states Rose-Marie proudly.  "They are invested in my success as much as I am."

She also began to support the community around her.  Among the many ventures Lombardo's has reached out to are the Police Athletic League, the Ronald McDonald House and the AIDS Council, as well as sponsoring local sporting events.  With the work schedule that entails operating a business, Rose-Marie still finds time to enjoy her own family; son Anthony (who also works in the restaurant,) daughter-in-law Jennifer and two beautiful granddaughters.

Always looking to grow, in 1999 a banquet room was added, accommodating the needs of her customers with a private room for family and business functions.

Lombardo's is registered with the Historic Albany Foundation, a member of the New York State Restaurant Association, and a member of the Downtown Business Improvement District.  Lombardo's has received many accolades over the years, including the Times Union readers' poll of best restaurant, and consistently being chosen Best Italian Restaurant by Metroland Magazine, finishing in the top three for the past 18 years.
