Posted at: 10/11/2009 3:28 PM Scotia teen charged with burglary, arsonROTTERDAM -- A Scotia teenager, found squatting in an abandoned charter school, has been arrested for arson. While searching the former Schenectady Charter School at 901 Draper Avenue, Rotterdam Police found Andrew Jones, 16, of N. Ballston Avenue in Scotia. He is charged with one count of burglary and arson. Police say they found a heavy smell of smoke and large area in the school building with fire and smoke damage but no active fire. Jones was arraigned on Saturday and sent to the Schenectady County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bail. Glenville Police had information that Jones may have been living in the abandoned building. He is believed to be a runaway and was reported missing. Jones was found hiding in a makeshift bedroom. He was found around 11:30PM Friday night.
