Dean Holmes, 22, Douglas Holmes, 21, and Brian Bessette, 24, were sentenced on Friday on one count each of attempted burglary, a Class "E" Felony, by Judge Thomas Breslin. Authorities say the trio drove to Albany looking for a drug dealer to rob in July 2. They pried the door open of an apartment they thought was the home of drug dealers. As the door opened, a dog barked and they ran off. Police stopped them for a traffic violation a couple of minutes later and found in their truck dark hooded-sweatshirts, bandanas, gloves and two crowbars. Police also found a replica Walther PPK starter pistol and two cans of pepper spray.
Major Crimes Unit Bureau Chief Bruce Lennard handled the prosecution of the case.
