Tuesday, May 21st, 2013
On Tuesday, May 21, South Glens Falls Central School District residents voted to approve the district's 2013-14 proposed budget with 950 voting in favor and 363 voting against it. The $53 million budget carries a 1.83 percent spending increase over the current year and a 3.48 percent increase in the tax levy.

The tax levy increase is below the limit set by New York’s tax levy cap law.

“I’d like to thank everyone who came out to vote,” said Superintendent of Schools Michael Patton. “Despite the difficult economic climate, South Glens Falls continues to strive to offer a high-quality education for all students, and support from our community is a key part of a successful school system.”

Voters also approved a $478,674 proposition to purchase four 65-passenger school buses and one 29-passenger bus, with 874 voting in favor and 433 voting against it.

Four candidates were also elected to the South Glens Falls Board of Education to serve three-year terms beginning July 1, 2013. Voters elected Thomas C. Kurtz (1,014 votes), Jeff Riggi (908 votes), Roger Fedele (870 votes) and Nelson Charron (868 votes).
