ARGYLE - A dog was duct taped and apparently left to die along the side of a road in Washington County. The dog was found late this morning along Coach Road in Argyle. It was taken to the vet Friday, and police are searching for the person responsible.
The dog, apparently a Husky-Malamute mix weighs about 98 pounds. The SPCA calls the dog loveable and wonders how someone could intentionally harm it.
A town highway employee found the dog on the side of Coach Road in Argyle at around 10:30 a.m. Friday morning. The dog's front and rear legs were duct taped, as was its mouth.
But the worst part according to the SPCA, was that the animal's collar was embedded deep into its skin and choking it. They call it worse than the worst case they've ever seen.
"This is so much worse than that. To tape an animal, in this, in any weather, much less to be that inhumane to tape them, both legs, can't move. It's unheard of and we really hope the public out there is not afraid to step forward,” said Cathy Cloutier of SPCA of Upstate New York.
Cloutier says the dog will survive, but will need surgery to close the wounds on its neck. If you know of something that might help police, they would like you to call them.
