Levora Green |
TROY - A Troy man was arraigned on charges that he sexually abused several boys between the ages of 12 and 16.
Forty-two-year-old Levora Green was arrested following a two month investigation. Police called the victims in this case truly heroic for coming forward. The boys reportedly told investigators they had been raped and sexually assaulted by Levora Green.
Green was arraigned in Troy City Court Wednesday morning on a charge of predatory sexual assault, the highest offense when it comes to sex crimes. Police said an adult acquaintance of Green’s tipped them off two months ago after witnessing what she thought was inappropriate conduct between Green and the boys.
They said Green, who is unemployed, befriended and groomed at least five boys between August 2010 and September 2011, giving them alcohol and marijuana, then forcibly assaulting them against their will.
After his arrest, Green would reportedly only admit that he spent quality time with the boys.
“This case is truly as bad as it gets,” said Captain John Cooney with Troy Police. “We often see horrendous crimes committed against individuals both adult and child but this is more than one and this is a very vulnerable population. Mr. Green has forcibly committed sex crimes against children as young as the age of 12. For all intensive purposes, Mr. Green is the monster we tell our children to avoid.”
Green had two prior convictions for drug related crimes. Police believe there is a sixth victim and possibly others and are asking anyone with information to call them.
