The National Guard did some fire training today, creating a spectacular sight on the Mohawk River in southern Saratoga County.

The guard was testing its Firehawk Helicopter System between the Twin Bridges and the Crescent Bridge.

The Firehawk can pump 1,000 gallons of water out of a river or lake in 60 seconds.

It can then spray or dump the water on to a fire scene.

The governor has ordered the guard to make this system available to fight brush fires in New York State during the summer months.
