SCHENECTADY – Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a burglary that happened at the president’s house at Union College Monday morning.

Schenectady police said that 58-year-old Darlene Verruto of Saratoga Springs kicked in the front door of the house and then entered. She is accused of chasing the president and another family member upstairs. She is also accused of fighting with the security guards when they tried to arrest her and injuring one of them.

Verruto is charged with burglary, assault, criminal mischief and resisting arrest. She is currently being held at the Schenectady Police Department pending an arraignment on the charges this afternoon.

The president and his family were not injured during the incident and there is no known affiliation between Verruto and Union College. The reason behind the incident remains under investigation.
