Schenectady man pleads guilty to manslaughter in baby’s death

SCHENECTADY - John Batease has pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the death of 20-month-old Asiah Maxam.
Batease was supposed to enter a guilty plea Thursday but he changed his mind at the last minute and a trial date was set for next month.
Late this afternoon, Batease entered a guilty plea. He faces 22 years in prison when he is sentenced in august.
