A fire tower steward in Saratoga County is bitten by a dog and now state officials want to know if that dog is rabid.

The steward was bitten on the finger on Hadley Mountain on Friday.

State EnCon officials say the dog was a black Labrador retriever mix, accompanied by a group of two men and a woman.

They're believed to live in Luzerne.

Officials say they took off while the steward sought help.

That steward is now receiving rabies shots as a precaution.

The dog's owner is being asked to contact DEC to confirm whether the dog is up to date on its rabies shots.
