Latham man accused of having drugs in jail

ALBANY - A Latham man was arrested after police said he was found with a hypodermic needle and heroin while in jail.

Police said 44-year-old Elliot Vasquez was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was being processed into the Albany County Correctional Facility for a parole violation when he was found with heroin hidden in his sneaker and a hypodermic needle.

Vasquez was arranged in the Town of Colonie and taken to jail without bail.
