The CDPHP fitness assessment - orientation and training area officially opened today at the Rudy Cicotti Family Recreation Center in Colonie.
The health insurer is donating $30,000 over three years to help run the training area.
It's also added it's sponsorship to the 'Well On Our Way' program.
Meeting every Monday evening at 5:30, 'Well On Our Way" is for people living with chronic conditions or recovering from an illness like cancer.
Trainer, Mary Ibbetson is a breast cancer survivor and is getting ready for her eighth marathon.
“I believe then, I believe now, that exercise has been part of my treatment that's gotten me to this point,” said Mary Ibbetson. “Exercise gives us an opportunity to focus on what we can do, what is possible, not what we can't do.”
'Well On Our Way' is free. It always starts with a walk and then it's tailored to your fitness level and goals.
